  • Description

C17300 beryllium copper plate is a high-performance, easy-to-machine beryllium bronze alloy that complies with ASTM B196 standards. It is widely used in electronics, aerospace, mold manufacturing, and explosion-proof tools, among other fields. Its typical composition is: beryllium (Be) 1.8–2.0%, lead (Pb) 0.2–0.6%, nickel + cobalt ≤ 0.6%, and the remainder is high-purity copper. It combines high strength with good electrical conductivity. After solution treatment and aging, the tensile strength of C17300 can reach 1200–1400 MPa, and the hardness is HRC 38–44. At the same time, it maintains 18–50% IACS conductivity and excellent elastic modulus (about 128 GPa). The lead-containing design of C17300 beryllium copper plate significantly improves the cutting performance. C17300 beryllium copper plate is suitable for automatic lathe processing of precision parts, such as connectors, springs, diaphragms, and injection mold inserts. The C17300 beryllium copper plate material is non-magnetic, spark-resistant, and corrosion-resistant, and is particularly suitable for use in flammable and explosive or high-reliability environments.

Standard thickness of C17300 beryllium copper plate

  • Thin plate: 0.5 mm – 6 mm

  • Medium-thick plate: 6 mm – 50 mm

  • Thick plate: 50 mm – 80 mm (Some manufacturers can provide up to 100 mm for the maximum size)

Note: Ultra-thin strips (such as 0.01 – 2.0 mm) are usually classified as "beryllium copper strips" and supplied in coil form.

Chemical composition (mass percentage, wt%)

According to international standards such as ASTM B196/B197, the main chemical composition of C17300 is as follows:

  • Copper (Cu): The remainder (≥99.50%, containing specified alloy elements)

  • Beryllium (Be): 1.8% – 2.0%

  • Lead (Pb): 0.20% – 0.60% (significantly improving cutting performance)

  • Nickel + Cobalt (Ni + Co): ≤0.60%, and ≥0.20% (used to refine grains and inhibit grain boundary embrittlement)

  • Other impurities (such as Fe, Si, P, S, etc.): Total ≤0.1% – 0.2%

This ratio enables C17300 to maintain high conductivity while achieving extremely high strength and elasticity, and possessing good machinability.
