what color is beryllium copper

Beryllium copper (beryllium bronze) usually appears in a golden yellow or red copper color. The specific color may vary slightly depending on the alloy composition, surface treatment, or degree of oxidation.

Fresh surface

The freshly processed or polished beryllium copper appears a bright golden yellow, similar to brass, but with a slightly darker color (due to the higher copper content, typically containing 97%-98% copper).

After oxidation

When exposed to the air, it will gradually oxidize, and the surface may turn dark red, brownish or dark brown, and even form green copper rust (basic carbonate copper).

Coating Effects

Some beryllium-copper products may be coated with nickel, tin, or undergo passivation treatment, resulting in a silver-white, gray-white color, or retaining the original metallic color.

Industrial State

• Sheet/Bar: Commonly golden yellow or red copper color.

• After heat treatment: The oxide film may exhibit a rainbow color or a bluish purple hue.

Note: For accurate identification, it is recommended to combine with material certificates (such as C17200, C17500 etc.) or spectral analysis to avoid confusion with brass.
