What are the main parameters to consider when choosing beryllium copper rods?

Beryllium copper rods are rod-shaped profiles made by extrusion, drawing, or forging processes using beryllium copper (an alloy of copper and beryllium, some models may contain trace elements such as lead, tin, and aluminum). Due to their excellent mechanical properties, processing performance, and decorative features, they are widely used in industrial manufacturing, precision processing, and decoration and renovation fields. When choosing beryllium copper rods, the following core parameters should be considered to ensure compatibility with the usage requirements:

Diameter / Specification

The common diameter range is 1mm - 200mm. Small diameters (1mm - 10mm) are used for precision parts (such as pins, small screws), while large diameters (50mm and above) are used for structural components (such as valves, bearing sleeves); some special specifications include square and hexagonal shapes (such as hexagonal beryllium copper rods used for bolts and nuts, no additional processing of the hexagonal surface is required).

Length

The standard lengths are 1m and 2m. Customization is also available (such as 1.5m and 3m) based on the requirements. The selection should be made in combination with the processing equipment stroke and the part size to avoid material waste.

State (Hardness)

Beryllium copper rods are classified by heat treatment status as "soft state (H04)", "semi-hard state (H59)", and "hard state (H80)":

Soft state: The plasticity is the best, suitable for bending and stretching (such as making decorative curved parts);

Hard state: The hardness is the highest, with high strength, suitable for bearing loads (such as structural parts, fasteners);

Semi-hard state: The performance is between the two, suitable for most general scenarios.

Surface state

Natural color (acid-washed state): The surface is light yellow, requiring subsequent polishing;

Polished state: The surface is as shiny as a mirror, directly used for decorative parts (such as furniture handles, handicrafts);

Brushed state: The surface has uniform textures, combining texture and anti-slip properties (such as electrical panel, bathroom accessories).
