The composition and characteristics of tin bronze

• Main components: It is mainly composed of copper, with the tin content generally ranging from 3% to 14%. Additionally, sometimes small amounts of zinc, lead, phosphorus and other elements are added to further improve its performance.

• Mechanical properties: It has high strength and hardness, while also having good toughness and ductility, capable of withstanding large external forces without cracking or deformation.

• Corrosion resistance: It has excellent corrosion resistance in air, fresh water and seawater, mainly due to the formation of a dense oxide film on its surface, which prevents further corrosion.

• Wear resistance: The wear resistance is good, especially under lubricated conditions, with a low friction coefficient, which can effectively reduce wear and extend service life.

• Casting properties: It has good fluidity, a small shrinkage rate, and can cast parts with complex shapes and high dimensional accuracy.

Applications of tin bronze

• Mechanical manufacturing: It is commonly used to manufacture various wear-resistant parts such as gears, worm wheels, shaft sleeves, and bearings, which can withstand large loads and friction.

• Shipbuilding industry: Due to its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, it is widely used in components of ships that come into contact with seawater, such as propellers, seawater valves, and pump bodies.

• Electrical industry: It can be used to manufacture electrical contacts and electrodes. Its good conductivity and heat conductivity, as well as wear resistance and corrosion resistance, can ensure the reliable operation of electrical equipment.

• Art field: Because of its beautiful color and good corrosion resistance, it is often used to make art sculptures and decorations, which can maintain their appearance and texture for a long time.
